Im Kontext ziviler Aktivitäten und staatlicher Zeremonien vermittelten sie ein weites Spektrum an politischen Werten und Programmausssagen des Herrscherhauses.
Die Werke, die ab dem 4. Jh. n. Chr. auf politische Plätze der neuen Hauptstadt versetzt wurden, besaßen noch immer das Potential, die Facetten herrscherlicher Macht und Sieghaftigkeit zur Anschauung zu bringen. Der vergleichende Blick auf Konstantinopel bestätigt die anhaltende Bedeutung von griechischen Werken als adäquatem Schmuck politischer Räume. Erst im 6. Jh. n. Chr. verloren ihre paganen Inhalte jeden Zusammenhang mit dem Weltbild einer christlichen Gesellschaft.
Zweifellos waren - so zeigt die Verfasserin - griechische Kunstwerke in der "Emigration" kein Randphänomen, sondern ein wesentlicher Beitrag zum politischen Leben Roms und Konstantinopels.

Le persecuzioni polacche che nel 1939 portarono alla morte di quattro familiari, lo spinsero ad entrare nella Luftwaffe, dove divenne navigatore-puntatore.
Dal 1943 in azione sui bombardieri Heinkel He 111 con i Kampfgeschwader 55 "Greif" e Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever", Zirk volò in 81 missioni di combattimento, di cui 65 notturne, sul fronte Orientale.
Vide azione dal Mar Nero alle porte di Berlino, prendendo parte in tredici grandi battaglie: dalle missioni di supporto alla Wehrmacht a Kursk e Velikie Luki, ai massicci bombardamenti contro le linee ferroviarie sovietiche durante l'operazione "Bomberstrom Ost" della Luftwaffe, al riuscito raid del 21-22 giugno 1944 contro l'aeroporto ucraino di Poltava e i bombardieri B-17 dell'USAAF lì schierati nel corso dell'operazione "Frantic". Zirk fu catturato dai russi dopo la resa della Germania nel maggio del 1945, ma riuscì a fuggire e a tornare a quella che era stata la sua casa in Polonia. Qui, il governo comunista polacco lo mandò in un campo di prigionia dove restò fino all'estate del 1947, quando riuscì a fuggire.

Im Fokus der Kritik steht dabei jener Biologismus, der fur das Scheitern des Versuches, das Wesen des Menschen in vergleichender Abhebung von der Daseinsform des Tieres zu klaren symptomatisch ist. Im Ruckbezug auf Herder, der den Menschen als Sprachwesen begreift, wird in ersten Schritten der Weg zu einer Uberwindung des Programms neuzeitlicher Anthropologie durch eine "Philosophie von der Sprache her" (Bruno Liebrucks) skizziert.
