He even tried his hand at acting in an American B-movie.
There was also a family connection with a future British prime minister. Like many spies, they both had large egos and were good at manufacturing information or distorting the truth. One of them ended up working for the Political Warfare Executive, so it is perhaps not surprising that he exploited his craft in post-war West Germany, mostly for his own ends. Between them, they were to cause MI5 a lot of headaches both during the war and afterwards into the Cold War period.

Die Frage, ob und mit welcher Begründung rechtsradikale Demonstrationen versammlungsrechtlich untersagt werden können, hat in den letzten Jahren zu einem einzigartigen Streit zwischen dem Bundesverfassungsgericht und dem Oberverwaltungsgericht NRW geführt. Ralf Röger, Hochschullehrer an der Universität Köln, stellt zuerst die strittigen Sachverhalte vor und erläutert, wieso sich das OVG NRW in zulässiger Weise immer wieder über die abweichenden Entscheidungen des BVerfG hinwegsetzen konnte. Danach analysiert er umfassend die von beiden Gerichten vorgetragenen Argumente pro und contra Versammlungsverbot und zeigt deren Schwachstellen und Widersprüche auf.Abschließend wird ein eigener Lösungsansatz entwickelt: Die Aktivierung von § 15 Versammlungsgesetz nicht als allgemeines Gesetz, sondern als spezifisch ehrenschützende Norm, die auch unterhalb der Grenze des Meinungsstrafrechts ein Verbot neonazistischer Versammlungen erlaubt, wenn diese an besonders sensiblen Tagen oder Orten stattfinden.
