The long tradition of Kierkegaard studies has made it impossible for individual scholars to have a complete overview of the vast field of Kierkegaard research. The large and ever increasing number of publications on Kierkegaard in the languages of the world can be simply bewildering even for experienced scholars. The present work constitutes a systematic bibliography which aims to help students and researchers navigate the seemingly endless mass of publications. The volume is divided into two large sections. Part I, which covers Tomes I-V, is dedicated to individual bibliographies organized according to specific language. This includes extensive bibliographies of works on Kierkegaard in some 41 different languages. Part II, which covers Tomes VI-VII, is dedicated to shorter, individual bibliographies organized according to specific figures who are in some way relevant for Kierkegaard. The goal has been to create the most exhaustive bibliography of Kierkegaard literature possible, and thus the bibliography is not limited to any specific time period but instead spans the entire history of Kierkegaard studies.

Auf der Traditionslinie des klassischen Souveränitätsbegriffs Bodins (1576) liegt die Staatssouveränität, die Auffassung, dass die Souveränität das Wesen des Staates ist. Ohne Souveränität kein Staat. Trotz Globalisierung ist Bodins moderner Staatsbegriff ungebrochen wirkmächtig. In dessen Ideengeschichte findet sich ein erstaunlich hohes Maß an Übereinstimmung mit den großen abendländischen Denkern Hobbes (1651), Hegel (1800), Carl Schmitt (1922) und Heller (1934). Sie haben ein konsistentes Erbe hinterlassen, das es zu pflegen und zu bewahren gilt. Souveränität ist, so Hobbes, die "Seele des Gemeinwesens".Demgegenüber weist die Bestandsaufnahme der Gegenwart auf, dass dieses Erbe ausgeschlagen wird. In der politischen Klasse der Bundesrepublik herrscht, so Mäder, eine Mentalität der Problemverdrängung mit seltsamer Richtungslosigkeit. Nationale Selbstbestimmung und -behauptung, Wahrung eigener Interessen im Wettbewerb mit anderen Völkern sind Universalismen und Worthülsen wie grenzenlose Demokratie, Menschenrechte und offene EU gewichen.Dieser kritisierten Zwischenlage stellt Mäder die Position der Staatsphilosophen gegenüber, die die Entwicklung der Staaten Europas geprägt haben und die sie zu kulturellen, wirtschaftlichen und souveränen Mächten werden ließen. Wesensmerkmal ist stets die unteilbare Souveränität - Militärmacht, Finanzhoheit, Territorialgewalt und ausschließliche Kontrolle des Rechtssystems. Diese Pfeiler scheinen den EU-Mitgliedsländern abhanden zu kommen. Die heutige EU läuft dem geistigen Erbe europäischer Nationalstaatlichkeit im Sinne Adenauers und de Gaulles zuwider. Die EU, weder Souverän noch Staat, eher eine amorphe Masse für Wirtschaft und Kapital, gerät durch Amerikanisierung, Globalisierung und Zuwanderung in den Strudel einer Abwärtsbewegung. Solange noch ein oder mehrere mächtige außereuropäische Staaten existieren, ist Bodins "Souveränität" nicht aus der Welt.

Gemeinwesen, die sich nicht anpassen, gehen unter.Umwälzungen solcher Art führen zu verstärktem Rufen nach sozialem Ausgleich, sozialer Sicherung und sozialer Abfederung. Es sind aber gerade auch die Regelungen des "Sozialen", die in Verdacht stehen, Ursache der Misere zu sein. Der Kampf um die Bestimmung des "Sozialen" ist politische Machtfrage, entscheidet über Wahlen. Das führt zur Leidenschaftlichkeit der Auseinandersetzung, unter der die ordnungspolitischen Grundfragen, die Fragen nach der Gerechtigkeit und nach der freiheitlichen Gestaltung der Gesellschaft selbstverantwortlicher Bürger Gefahr laufen verschüttet zu werden.Diese Grundfragen aufzuzeigen, den Gestaltungsspielraum des Gesetzgebers abzuklären, der ihm durch Verfassung und die europäischen Verträge aber auch durch bekannte ökonomische Marktreaktionen und ökonomische Vernunft gesetzt wird, ist Gegenstand der Abhandlungen. Es geht um den Rechtsbegriff des Sozialen, es geht aber auch ganz praktisch darum, wie weit der Gesetzgeber die Gesetzliche Rentenversicherung, Krankenversicherung und sonstige soziale Leistungsgesetze und das Tarifvertragssystem verändern kann und muss. Schließlich geht es auch um die Grundfragen der Leistungsgerechtigkeit und der Verteilungsgerechtigkeit, mithin um die Fragen nach dem gerechten Preis und dem gerechten Lohn.

Es gehört jedoch zur Sichtweise der Theologen, daß moralische Momente als Determinanten der Glückseligkeit angesehen werden.Der Autor stellt der Konzeption des Weltethos eine Theorie gegenüber, derzufolge das politische Geschehen durch das Aufeinanderprallen verschiedener Zivilisationen bestimmt ist. Weinberger setzt der gängigen Moral, die den Einsatz für die eigene Gemeinschaft fordert, eine Moral entgegen, die Wege der diskursiven Brücken zwischen divergierenden Welthaltungen sucht. Am Ende diskutiert er Methoden der friedlichen Koexistenz und Kooperation - trotz unterschiedlicher Einstellungen.
