Farming Human Pathogens: Ecological Resilience and Evolutionary Process introduces a cutting-edge mathematical formalism based on the asymptotic limit theorems of information theory to describe how punctuated shifts in mesoscale ecosystems can entrain patterns of gene expression and organismal evolution. The most successful pathogens appear able to integrate selection pressures humans have imposed upon them from a variety of socioecological scales. The book also presents a related treatment of Eigen's Paradox and the RNA 'error catastrophe' that bedevils models of the origins of viruses and of biological life itself.

The ambition of this monograph is to show the methods of constructing fast matrix multiplication algorithms, and their applications, in an intelligible way, accessible not only to mathematicians. Authors start from commutative algorithms, through exact non-commutative algorithms, partial algorithms to disjoint and arbitrary precision algorithms. Authors explain how to adapt disjoint algorithms to a single matrix multiplication and prove the famous tau-theorem in the (not so) special case. In an appendix, authors show how to work with confluent Vandermonde matrices, since they are used as an auxiliary tool in problems arising in fast matrix multiplication. Importantly, each algorithm is demonstrated by a concrete example of a decent dimensionality to ensure that all the mechanisms of the algorithms are illustrated. Finally, authors give a series of applications of fast matrix multiplication algorithms in linear algebra and other types of problems, including artificial intelligence.

The financial system is currently confronted with tremendous challenges from the global economy, trade, politics, demographics, and most recently from enormous technological advancements. These developments have the capacity to change the existing financial system fundamentally. This book addresses how technological developments and digitalization will impact the future of financial systems.
This book is based on the results of a series of ten roundtables with high-level experts on the future of the financial system. Experts from academia, supranational institutions, central banks, commercial banks, regulators, start-ups, technology companies, venture capital firms, think tanks, foundations, and other visionaries from five continents developed potential scenarios of the financial system 2030 over a time horizon of five years. The book presents the results of these discussions, which are structured along the 'Vaduz Architecture'. This newly introduced concept distinguishes different dimensions for the future financial system, including information technologies, nation states and (de-) regulation.
