This research is an instrumental investigation of a theory of rhythmical performance of poetry, originally propounded speculatively in the author's Perception-Oriented Theory of Metre (1977). "Iambic pentameter" means that there is a verse unit consisting of an unstressed and a stressed syllable (in this order), and that the verse line consists of five such units. In the first 165 verse lines of Paradise Lost there are two such lines. The theory takes up one of the central issues in metrical studies: all criteria for metricality hitherto proposed have been violated by the greatest masters of musicality in English poetry. The question arises, how do we recognise two verse lines that are very different in their structures as instances of the same abstract pattern of, eg: iambic pentameter; and how do we distinguish a metrical from an unmetrical line. One great difference between this theory of metre and others concerns the status of deviation. Most theoreticians deploy a battery of tools to make deviant stress patterns conform with metric pattern. Only when all attempts fail do they speak of "tension". When they succeed, they blur the distinction between, for example, Milton's and Pope's metrical styles. Or else, they have formulated different rules of metricality for Shakespeare and Milton. This theory assumes that when the versification patterns and linguistic patterns conflict, they can be accommodated in a pattern of "Rhythmical Performance" - namely one in which the conflicting patterns are simultaneously perceptible. There are scales of mounting difficulties of mismatches, on which each poet (and each theorist) draws at different points the boundary of what is acceptable. Reuven Tsur's revised and expanded edition (original publication, Peter Lang, 1986) is essential reading for all scholars and students involved in versification and Cognitive Poetics.

In seiner Arbeit "Praktische Philosophie - heute" befasst sich Professor Erich Kadlec - ausgehend von Poppers Thesen des Dualismus von Tatsachen und Maßstäben, der negativen Formulierung ethischer Forderungen und seines "Alles Leben ist Problemlösen" - mit konkreten Ereignissen der Gegenwart. Der Autor stellt sich die Aufgabe, eine universell gültige und anwendbare Moral als durch nichts zu durchbrechenden Mindeststandard menschlichen Verhaltens darzustellen. Dabei stellt er neben einer Tatsachenbeschreibung und Bewertung die Suche nach Regeln in gesonderten Theorien voran:- Freiheitstheorie: Freiheit der Menschen als von Fähigkeiten ihres Trägers plus Mitwirkung minus Gegenwirkung aus der Umwelt abhängige Möglichkeit zu selbstbestimmtem Verhalten, abgeleitet aus dem Fall der Berliner Mauer.- Verhaltenstheorie: Beschreibung und Typisierung des Handelns oder Unterlassens der Menschen zur Erhaltung des vorgegebenen Lebenszieles und zur Erreichung selbst gesetzter Zwecke samt ihren Folgen für andere (Menschen, Tiere, Pflanzen, Ökosysteme), beschränkt auf das anderen schädliche Problemverhalten.- Ethik: Bewertung und Suche nach Prinzipien und Regeln zum Schutz des betroffenen Objekts aus Verantwortlichkeit des Mensch-Seins.- Moral: Regelungen für das Verhaltenssubjekt in Verbotsform zur Ergänzung des menschlichen Gewissens als Humanmoral: für die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen der Individuen und als Ordnung in den Gemeinschaften (Rechts- und Staatswesen) als Streitschlichtungsinstanz in Richtung Gerechtigkeit oder Naturmoral: für das Verhalten gegenüber Tieren und Pflanzen als Objekt mit direkter und gegenüber Ökosystemen mit indirekter Auswirkung auf Lebewesen.

Es ist vielmehr ein Institut, das eine aus anderem Grund gewährte Sachüberlassung oder Nutzungsgestattung ergänzt, indem es einem Teil, dem Geber, den sofortigen Zugriff durch eine günstige Besitzposition verschafft und eine ungewollte Rechtsentstehung zugunsten des Prekaristen verhindert. Das Mittel hierzu ist ein Besitzvertrag, mit dem sich der Prekarist dem Geber unterwirft und sich auf eine Stufe mit Besitzern stellt, die eine Sache gewaltsam oder heimlich erlangt haben. Dieses besondere Institut prägt die Diskrepanz zwischen seinem vertraglichen Begründungsmodus und seinem Effekt, der in der Tatsache fehlerhaften Besitzes besteht. Sie führt zu einer schwankenden Einordnung des $aprecarium$z in der römischen Jurisprudenz und ist letztlich auch für die Abschaffung des Instituts verantwortlich, das sich nicht zum Begriff des Besitzes als tatsächlicher Sachherrschaft fügt.
