Zwar belegen die eindrucksvollen Erfolge der direkten Reizung des Hörnervs bei Taubheit, dass man Wahrnehmungen über Computer erzeugen und ans Gehirn weitergeben kann, aber eine allgemeine kognitive Leistungssteigerung ist auf diesem Wege nicht möglich. Und genetische Manipulationen zur Steigerung der Gehirnleistung bergen mehr Gefahren als Chancen. Schließlich geht der Autor noch der Frage nach, ob der von manchen Forschern vorgeschlagene Mind-Upload, die Übertragung des menschlichen Geistes in einen Supercomputer, möglich ist und welche Folgen er haben könnte.
