Masahiro Chatani was a Japanese architect and professor of Architecture at Tokyo Institute of Technology. Origamic Architecture is a variation of kirigami, itself a variation of origami where cuts are allowed, where you only need an X-acto knife and a ruler to create complex 3-dimensional structures out of a single sheet of paper. This volume continues the Middle Iranian portion of the Iranisches Personennamenbuch. It deals with personal names attested in published texts in the Sogdian language, an eastern Iranian vernacular which has come down to us from texts composed between the first centuries CE and the 11th century in the Sogdian heartland (today, parts of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan) and along the route of the Great Silk Road, where Sogdians traded and settled. More than 1,600 names and terms are collected in this volume, arranged alphabetically, and include all the personal names found in Sogdian texts that have been published to date (either of Sogdian, other Iranian or non- Iranian provenance; both real and fictitious), as well as adjectives denoting origin, nicknames, and titles that were also used as personal names. A standard entry begins with the name in transliteration, its (usually tentative) transcription, and any indications of the person's gender. Next are provided quotations from the texts (often quite lengthy) in which the name appears. These are followed by notes on the prosopography of the bearer of the name and the name's etymology, as well as remarks on finer details. Namesakes are included in a single entry. The volume starts with an introduction, list of abbreviations and bibliography, and ends with reverse and prosopographical indices.
