Together, such challenges can lead to an inability to fully assess and understand the operations and outputs of AI systems.

Experiments in reading and recirculation, Indigenous compilations include Mohegan minister Samson Occom's medicinal recipes, the Ojibwe woman Charlotte Johnston's poetry scrapbooks, and Abenaki leader Joseph Laurent's vocabulary lists. Indigenous compilations proliferated in a period of colonial archive making, and Native writers used compilations to remake the very forms that defined their bodies, belongings, and words as ethnographic evidence. This study enables new understandings of canonical Native writers like William Apess, prominent settler collectors like Thomas Jefferson and Henry Rowe Schoolcraft, and Native people who contributed to compilations but remain absent from literary histories. Long before current conversations about decolonizing archives and museums, Native writers made and circulated compilations to critique colonial archives and foster relations within Indigenous communities.

The audiogram is the most widely used diagnostic tool in audiology clinics around the world. The audiogram involves measuring the threshold for detecting sounds of different frequencies. Sometimes the audiogram is the only diagnostic tool that is used. However, hearing problems are not completely characterized by the audiogram. Two individuals with similar audiograms may show very different abilities in the detection and discrimination of sounds at above-threshold levels. Also, a person may have hearing difficulties despite having an audiogram that is within the range conventionally considered as 'normal'. One factor that may influence the discrimination of sounds, especially the ability to understand speech in background sounds, is sensitivity to temporal fine structure (TFS).

Based on a thorough reconsideration of the manuscripts, of the indirect tradition, and of both the Latin and the Greek text, this new edition utilizes manuscript evidence unknown to previous editors, refines the standard account of relations between the earlier manuscripts, and distinguishes between readings in the later manuscripts derived from an older lost witness and those resulting from error or interpolation. All known witnesses to the indirect tradition as preserved in four florilegia have been examined, at times enabling readings less well supported by the manuscripts of the direct tradition to be restored. Above all, the approach to the transmitted text evinces a more sceptical, less trusting view than that of many recent editors: the apparatus criticus contains numerous emendations and suggestions, and in several places corrects the attribution of previous scholars' conjectures, yet remains more generous than Marshall's and avoids trivial details.

This new critical edition of Aulus Gellius' Noctes Atticae by Leofranc Holford-Strevens is intended to replace the previous Oxford Classical Text by Peter K. Marshall, published in 1968 but soon superseded by Marshall's own later discoveries as well as by other scholarship. Based on a thorough reconsideration of the manuscripts, of the indirect tradition, and of both the Latin and the Greek text, this new edition utilizes manuscript evidence unknown to previous editors, refines the standard account of relations between the earlier manuscripts, and distinguishes between readings in the later manuscripts derived from an older lost witness and those resulting from error or interpolation. All known witnesses to the indirect tradition as preserved in four florilegia have been examined, at times enabling readings less well supported by the manuscripts of the direct tradition to be restored. Above all, the approach to the transmitted text evinces a more sceptical, less trusting view than that of many recent editors: the apparatus criticus contains numerous emendations and suggestions, and in several places corrects the attribution of previous scholars' conjectures, yet remains more generous than Marshall's and avoids trivial details.

The Children's Court is one of society's most important social institutions. At the same time, it is steeped in controversy. This is in large measure due to the persistence and complexity of the problems with which it deals, namely, juvenile crime and child abuse and neglect. Despite the importance of the Children's Court as a means of holding young people accountable for their anti-social behaviour and parents for the care of their children, it has not been the subject of close study. Certainly it has not been previously studied nationally. This book, an edited collection, is based on the findings of study that spanned the six States and two Territories of Australia. The study sought to examine the current challenges faced by the Children's Court and to identify desirable and feasible directions for reform in each State and Territory. A further unique feature of this study is that it canvassed the views of judges and magistrates who preside over this court.
