Seit Mitte der siebziger Jahre beschäftigt sich die Finanzierungstheorie mit der Erforschung von Prinzipal-Agenten-Problemen in Gläubiger-Schuldner-Beziehungen. Die in einer solchen Beziehung bestehenden Asymmetrien hinsichtlich Information, Kompetenz und Betroffenheit bergen stets die Gefahr, dass das Schuldnerunternehmen nach erfolgter Kreditaufnahme eine für die Gläubiger riskantere und weniger vorteilhafte Investitionspolitik zu realisieren sucht, als dies ohne die gewährte Finanzierungsmaßnahme möglich gewesen wäre. In der betriebswirtschaftlichen Literatur wird dieses spezielle Problem der Vermögensverschiebung als Risikoanreizproblem bezeichnet. Ausgehend von der Frage, inwieweit eine Vermögensverschiebung bei verschiedenen Kombinationen von Risikomaßen und Verteilungsannahmen möglich ist, erweitert Jochen Bigus das bestehende Theoriegebäude zum Risikoanreizproblem um zwei wesentliche Aspekte: Der Autor geht zum einen von mehreren risikobehafteten Projekten und zum anderen von mehreren nicht gleichrangigen Gläubigerforderungen aus. Die Arbeit leistet somit einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung eines für die Finanzierungstheorie zentralen Forschungsgegenstandes.
