On the Nazi trials in Eastern Europe in the 1960s and the place of the Holocaust in them.
About 15 years after the end of the war, a second wave of trials against Nazi criminals occurred in many Eastern Bloc states, which followed a different logic than the ones immediately after the war. At the height of the Cold War in the 1960s, the trials on the one hand obliged cooperation between East and West, on the other hand they were determined by the defensive attitude towards the respective opponent in the system conflict. Within the Eastern bloc, unity was to be demonstrated through a coordinated approach on the international stage, while at the same time national interests led to their own paths in criminal prosecution. The essays collected in this volume are devoted to the history of criminal trials on National Socialist crimes in Hungary, the GDR, Poland, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union after the "thaw" and ask about the preconditions and peculiarities of these proceedings. What rules applied to the trials? What goals did they pursue? And last but not least: What significance did the Holocaust have in the clarification of the crimes?

The Pentagon destroyed SOG's photos and records after the war to maintain its secrecy. The Pink Panthers were the only all-Cobra unit and only helicopter unit dedicated to supporting SOG. Readers will find themselves in the cockpit firing rockets and mini-guns while Terry, as air mission commander, directs the air assets attempting to bring embattled SOG men out when completely surrounded by the enemy. The book includes the story of Terry's dad, a World War II fighter pilot, made famous through his pet coyote companion who flew in five combat missions in Operation Market Garden.

Jainism has a long history in the Tamil country. The Jains had a significant role in the formation of the Tamil script, including their great literary contribution. Despite this, most people were unaware of the presence of Tamil Jains and their connection to Tamil history. Many assumed, for instance, that Jainism and Buddhism were one and the same. To allay this confusion and ignorance, Mayilai Seeni Venkatasamy published Samanamum Tamilum (Jainism and Tamil) in 1954. The book is one of the earliest accounts introducing and explicating Jain philosophy, ethics, and doctrine to the modern Tamil reader. It traces Jainism's arrival to the Tamil region, its growth, and its eventual fall with the concurrent emergence of the Bhakti movement. It talks of the persecution of Jains and their forced conversions to the Hindu faith, and Hinduism's appropriations of Jain myths, festivals, and doctrines. Drawing from a variety of sources, including literature, inscription, sculpture, and temple architecture that has survived, perished, or metamorphosed into Hindu shrines, Venkatasamy resurrects the lost and largely forgotten Jain past of the Tamil country.
This English translation makes the work available to a global readership, inviting new perspectives on this two-thousand-year-old literary, cultural, and religious tradition, and its people. It hopes to inspire similar interrogations into various regional iterations of Jainism from other parts of the subcontinent, shedding light on how Jainism - or any religion, for that matter - gets localized and develops distinctive idioms in different socio-cultural landscapes.

Sie werden hier vorgestellt, um diesem Defizit entgegenzuwirken, denn auch unabhängig von der Errichtung lokaler Verwaltungsgerichte bleiben sie ein Instrumentarium, mit dem Gläubige ihre rechtlichen Interessen einfordern. Zudem wird die Etablierung einer lokalen Verwaltungsgerichtsbarkeit umso wirksamer sein können, wenn sie vermeidet, allein das staatliche Recht auf die Kirche zu übertragen, sondern Maß nimmt am geltenden kanonischen Prozessrecht sowie der Gerichtspraxis und der ständigen Rechtsprechung der Apostolischen Signatur.
