Uno de los aspectos más fascinantes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial fue el uso por parte de Japón de pilotos suicidas conocidos en todo el mundo como kamikazes, aunque los japoneses se referían a ellos como Tokubetsu kōgekitai ("Unidades Especiales de Ataque"). Traducidos como "Viento de Dios", "Viento Divino" y "Espíritu de Dios", los kamikazes hundirían 47 buques aliados y dañarían más de 300 al final de la guerra, pero el aumento del uso de ataques kamikaze evidenciaba la pérdida de la superioridad aérea de Japón y su menguante poderío industrial. Este método de combate se haría más común cuando se luchó en Iwo Jima a principios de 1945, y fue especialmente frecuente durante la invasión de Okinawa en abril de 1945. In this type of coil the current density is higher near the axis than at the exterior, resulting into a higher value for G (see above). For the details of the construction we refer to the original papers 2, 3. If the power is dissipated at a low voltage the cooling may be achieved with the help of water. Distilled water should be preferred over mains' water in order to prevent the magnet from corrosion. In the case of a high voltage coil some non-inflammable organic fluid should be used. A low viscosity and a large specific heat are advantageous.
